Spray Paint Hybrid 2K Rough Textured Matte Black High Temperature Engine 188°
- This engine paint is a special professional 2K paint that does not need to be mixed with the catalyst because it is already contained within it and activates on its own when the thinner evaporates at room temperature
- Reproduces the original finish of Harley Davidson engines and many other motors
- Features exceptional thermal and mechanical resistance properties
HOW TO APPLY TEXTURED ENGINE PAINT
This engine texture paint is self dry without hot or oven. This paint produce a self texture effect that can be controlled by the applicator. Read the instruction and use the right way to apply this paint.
- Degrease the engine first with Kustom Service special aeronautical degreaser
- Do not use any type of nitro or acrylic solvent or body shop anti-silicone products
- Always wear latex gloves and never touch the engine or bare metal with your hands
- Doing so will cause oxidation due to the acids present on your skin
- Once all engine components are clean, begin preparing the parts
PRIMING THE ENGINE
- Engine preparation requires applying our high-temperature primer, as the paint alone does not guarantee adhesion on metal or alloy surfaces
- If you choose not to use primer, you do so at your own risk of the paint peeling off
- We recommend this step to our customers because it is directly linked to the quality and longevity of the paint job. Engines are built from aluminium alloy or other metals that can oxidize, so primer must always be applied before painting
- Even aluminium can oxidize, which is why it is essential that a primer blocks this oxidation process. Primer also has special adhesive properties that paint alone cannot provide. For this reason, even though the paint can adhere to metal and aluminium, we still recommend applying a primer
- Paint alone cannot stop rust or oxidation because it cannot contain phosphating agents — this is why we always recommend using a primer
APPLYING THE PRIMER
- Shake the bottle or spray can thoroughly, apply the first medium coat (not too heavy, not too light)
- Wait 5 minutes and apply a full, even, and uniform coat
- Wait 20/30 minutes and begin painting
APPLYING THE TEXTURED EMBOSSED PAINT
- The 2K textured paint does NOT need to be catalyzed before use
- Inside the packaging you will find only the paint, because the catalyst is already inside and activates on its own upon application
- Simply shake the paint and apply it
- Use a spray gun with a 0.8 to 1.3 nozzle and apply at a pressure between 1.5 and 2.5 bar
- Apply one coat — not too heavy, not too light — and wait 15 minutes
- Apply a heavier, more compact coat and wait 20 minutes
- After 20 minutes, begin creating the rough Harley Davidson engine effect
CREATING THE TEXTURED EMBOSSED EFFECT
- To achieve the textured effect, simply apply coats very quickly and from a distance (30 cm from the surface)
- It is very important that these dry, dusty coats are not applied all at once
- Apply one light coat from a distance and wait for it to dry
- Then apply another and wait for it to dry
- The more light coats applied, the rougher the surface becomes
- Continue this process until the effect matches that of original Harley Davidson engines
PAINT DRYING AND FUEL RESISTANCE
- The textured paint will be touch dry in approximately one hour. After 12 hours it will reach a very high hardness level, sufficient to allow you to reassemble the engine parts. After 48/72 hours it will reach the hardness required to resist gasoline
- In summer, if you place the parts in direct sunlight, the paint becomes fuel-resistant in as little as 8 hours
- NOTE: Remember that our spray paints offer the same resistance as liquid paint — you can therefore choose to use either version in exactly the same way
